The Beta news agency opened on March 9 its competition for the best photograph of the year.
This is the 9th consecutive competition BETA is organizing under the title “BETA’s Photograph of the Year.” All professional photo reporters from the countries of South East Europe are invited to participate with pictures taken in South East Europe.
The competition will last until April 22.
Prizes awarded in the competition are monetary: the first prize is worth EUR1,000, the second EUR750, and the third EUR500. Special prizes will also be awarded.
The competition’s general sponsor, Telekom Srbija, will grant a prize for the best sports photograph.
Visitors of social networks will select the work to receive an audience prize, and the author who garners the most votes will be awarded a Sony Ericsson XPERIA pro mobile telephone.
The South East Europe Media Organization (SEEMO) will award a special prize to the best human rights photograph. The best work in this area will be selected by a special panel of judges.
The members of the Jury will be Aleksandar Andjic (Vreme magazine), Dragan Kujundzic (the Association of Photo Authors), Vladimir Tatarevic (the Academy of Applied Arts), Srdjan Sulejmanovic (EPA), and Nenad Petrovic (BETA).
An exhibition of selected works will open in the New Moment Gallery in Belgrade on May 17, at 6 p.m. As in the previous years, BETA will publish a catalogue of all exhibited works.
